SHUKADO+SCENA will exhibit at ART CENTRAL 2024.
Shukado's mission is to discover and present the most progressive contemporary artists while dealing with antique art from the Edo period. We will be exhibiting the best innovations of each period at the fair in Hong Kong.
In case of Kariya Miki, her artwork comes to life on wooden panels, meticulously layered with acrylic paint, creating an explosion of colors. Her unique brushwork weaves a narrative, almost like a fairy tale world. However, the more you delve into her creations, the more you realize that her world is strangely vivid and realistic, possibly tinged with allegory. Based on the study of Spain’s realistic paintings, Hara Takahiro depicts the “existence” hidden in daily life.
And Sakata Genpei’s carvings are animals looking a bit malformed and undependable but living life in its fullest. Their eyes are like yellow buttons, hard to know where they are looking at. But somehow, the carved animals are human-like. He expresses funny, sad, and cute animals generously in wood carvings and paintings.

Finally, Chen Pei Yi. She paints cats. She translates momentary behaviors of cats which are shown for only the persons they trust. Chen Pei Yi’s cats surely live in the painting.
As for traditional Japanese arts, we exhibit increasingly popular Ukiyo-e of Hokusai, Kuniyoshi etc. And, in addition, we display the works of Fujita Tsuguharu who was an artist based in Paris at the time when the Ecole de Paris was in full bloom.
