Kawanabe Kyosai who had been active from the end of Edo period to the Meiji period (late 1800’s). After he studied Ukiyo-e from Kuniyoshi, entered the Kano-sect and studied painting in the traditional academy, so he created a myriad of works in a wide range of genres.
Kyosai garners more attention in recent years. We widely present his charm with his artworks housed by Shukado Gallery and the homage works by living artists to Kyosai.
